Mark your calendar for Saturday, November 26, 2011 to kick off the holiday season with a day full of events in Downtown Muskegon!

* Special shopping discounts & sales -- Visit each participating downtown retailer for a stamp on the Shopper's Stamp Card (available at retailers & various businesses throughout Downtown)—collect all 14—drop your card at the Muskegon Visitors Bureau, 610 W. Western Avenue, for a chance to win a downtown gift basket worth over $500 in goodies & gift certificates!!

* Teddy Bear Breakfast, Muskegon Museum of Art - Kids & teddy bears are invited to enjoy a delicious breakfast, teddy bear check-up, child’s goodie bag, a visit with Santa, and Teddy Bear Parade through the museum at 10am. Family film, Polar Express, will be shown after the parade at 1030am. Tickets at the door: $10 per adults, $6 per child. Discounts for advance purchase. * Festival of Trees, Muskegon Museum of Art - This annual fundraiser features themed trees, seasonal decor, and a gingerbread village and model train station. Custom-designed trees, holiday decor, and other seasonal gift packages and items will be available for sale through a silent auction during the run of the festival. Additional silent auction items on display will include seasonal decorations, gifts, and gift baskets donated by businesses and individuals. Added attractions are live musical entertainment and visits by Santa at various times, and Money Tree and Gingerbread Raffles. Hours: 10am - 5pm. Admission: 5 per adult, $2 per child ages 3 to 17 (under age 3, free), discounts for MMA members. * Historic holiday tours, Lakeshore Museum Center Historic Sites - Visit the Hackley & Hume Houses to see the quiet elegance of the Hackley house as it may have appeared in 1890. The Hume holidays would have been filled with wonder of children Christmas day. The Scolnik Depression Era House will be decorated based on memories shared with us of what it was like for Muskegon residents living through the Great Depression. Admission to the Fire Barn Museum and Scolnik House is free, the Hackley & Hume Site is $3.00 adult, 12 and under are free. Evening tour: 5pm & 8pm. * Decorated window display competition, participating downtown retailers & businesses - tour through Downtown Muskegon to enjoy the variety of decorated window displays. Pick your favorite & vote online to award one business the 'Best Holiday Window' recognition! Details & link coming soon...

* Warren Miller ski/snowboard adventure film “Like There’s No Tomorrow”, Frauenthal Theatre - Hosted by skiing icon Jonny Moseley and shot on location in India, New Zealand, Chile, Alaska, Norway, British Columbia and beyond. Like There's No Tomorrow features world-class athletes, celebrating those who take on the mountains with an abandon that amazes and inspires us all.
