The downtown area is located in the heart of the city on the shores Lake Muskegon, an inland lake connected to Lake Michigan. The downtown area is bounded by 9th St. (south) to Spring St. (north), and from the Lake Muskegon lakeshore (west) to Monroe St. (east). In addition the downtown extends southwest from 9th St to the Hartshorn center and also runs north to include E. Western Ave towards the Cobb Power Plant.
