Dan Rinsema-Sybenga, Main Street Manager

Dan was born in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada and spent his pre-college years moving back and forth between Ontario and Michigan. After obtaining his undergraduate degree from Calvin College Dan lived in Japan for four years where he taught English. Upon completion of his final contract in Japan he traveled by bicycle around Southeast Asia for 6 months before returning to the United States. Always having been interested in community development issues Dan enrolled in the Master’s of Public Administration program at GVSU, at the same time working as a graduate assistant for the Community Research Institute. In May, 2005 Dan completed his MPA and took over duties as the Muskegon Main Street Manager, where he coordinates the efforts of various entities with the goal of improving the commercial environment of the Muskegon Central Business District. Dan lives with his wife in the Campus Historic District, downtown Muskegon.
