Muskegon, MI (WZZM) Downtown Muskegon saw the kick-off to a drive to give residents the chance to participate in re-building downtown.

City leaders say the "Third Street Promenade" will be a gathering place.

Residents can buy a brick with their name on it and add it to the streetscape project.

There are also naming opportunities for benches, planters, and public art and prices start at $250.00.

The promenade is in front of the new Chamber building and Baker College's new culinary arts building.

The Chamber's president says it's a great way to participate in the making of a new downtown.

Cindy Larsen, Muskegon Area Chamber of Commerce said, "We are the generation that is rebuilding the downtown. What a great goal to get the names of those who were alive when muskegon became alive again."

The Third Street Promenade project is currently underway.
It could be completed in two years.
