Michigan Alternative and Renewable Energy Center (MAREC) is a 25,000 square foot state-of-the-art office
building owned and operated by Grand Valley State University (GVSU) as a
business incubator, research facility,
educational and conference center. The center integrates several renewable

A partnership between the community and Grand Valley State University has led to the construction of this sophisticated
research facility on the shores of Muskegon Lake. The Lake Michigan Center is now home to GVSU’s Annis Water Resources Institute, one of the world’s premier freshwater research
centers, employing over 60 people. The facility contains classrooms, laboratories, and meeting facilities as well as docking for two research vessels.
Edison Landing is one of the eleven SmartZones in Michigan. Smartzones are designated areas that meet certified technology part criteria and have the ability to use tax increment financing to support the development of high-tech infrastructure, such as business incubators and research centers. SmartZones are being marketed throughout the country as premiere locations for technology-based business.
Edison Landing is a unique mixed-use development being constructed on a waterfront site in Downtown Muskegon. The site offers exceptional opportunities for retail, office and residential development. Beautiful streetscape, a public boardwalk along Muskegon Lake and plenty of green space combine to make Edison Landing a hospitable environment for innovative people and companies.
